Who remembers early Gov Verify?

Any of my UK public sector colleagues involved in the early years of Gov Verify? I’m writing a little thing about rediscovering problem-space exploration and how we need to tie the start of the design process to the final outcomes.
I’m wondering if Verify went through service assessments and what the conversations would have been, especially around the users’ mental models of trust and identity and how those intersected with their unmet user needs.
Anyone able to share some historical thoughts or experiences?
