So we have a budget.
I’ve heard a few complaints this week about the high costs of running a business, the overheads of employing people etc. Clearly running a business is extraordinarily hard.
So I get that, I really do.
What I don’t get is some of the assumptions about top-line stresses and that because you work hard, you’re entitled to be in business…
If I said “…times are really tough, we’ve had to tighten our belts. In order to remain competitive and meet our growth targets, we have had to steal 5% of our supplies. It’s a tough choice, but I built this business up from nothing and sometimes as a business leader you need to make hard choices…”
Clearly theft is a crime. It’s just wrong, right?
So here’s a thought. If your business model is only sustainable by using labour that you do not pay appropriately, then maybe you do not have a sustainable business model?
If taking your value proposition to market means you hurt people, then maybe you shouldn’t be taking your value proposition to market?
