- Do teams in Gov departments make products?
- Are they driven to optimise annual recurring revenue (ARR)?
- For design teams, does that drive for investor return impact choices?
- Are team leaders beholden to shareholders?
- And who decides what ‘better’ looks like? Shareholders? Investors?
How might we better describe the act of providing public services, with societal outcomes as the objective, and the framing of budgets and policy by our elected government as the frame of accountability?
I know there are very useful parallels with the world of “product” and we all like the idea of “going faster” but could there be a better way?
At a minimum could we go back to saying “service” more frequently than “product”?
