Jed draws refugees waiting on the Eurostar concourse

As you know kids, Grandad Jed goes through life with a sketchpad shoved down the back of his trousers. Over the years his collection of “Jed’s Red Books” has grown, and occasionally, he sends a photograph of some of the pages.

He sent this page just now…

There are good drawings and there are bad drawings and, there are sometimes sad drawings. Waiting to check-in on Eurostar at Gare du Nord the queue lines up on the gallery overlooking the concourse.

I found it strange to be a witness to this tragic group of refugees from Ukraine and to be unable to help.

Just drawing is a form of witness I suppose.

I couldn’t help remembering me as a six-year-old boy being separated from home on endless crowded trains. It is still hard to see all this in the modern Europe of 2022.

We deserve better. with Love, Jed

Thanks for sharing this Jed.
